I have already prepared a excel sheel for 
verifying our meter reading.  We will check 
in that which is working or not. As you can 
see duration is mentioned in upper most shell. 
In duration firstly you have to decide for 
how long you are using your electrical appliances 
. We can select whatever but my recomendation 
is to choose 6-8 hours because within this 
limit there is a less posibility of error. 
As we took smaller time span the calculation 
will be more accurate. If we have big duration 
then there is a high chances of error. For 
my calculation i am choosing here 9 am to 
5 pm then our duration is of 8 hours . My 
personal advise is to choose as smaller time 
we can take. Here it is written initial reading 
. It means as we started checking our meter 
, mention reading value of that time only 
. Let suppose our initial reading is 12123.4 
and we take final reading at 5 pm . Here 
you can see a table , at left side corner 
there is a serial number. Next one is a electrical 
appliances . In electrical appliances you 
have to mention list of devices you have 
used in selected duration. Next one is watt. 
Basically watt represents power consumptions 
of devices. Next one is quantity, duration. 
In duration , you have to be carefull about 
its unit i.e hours. Lets suppose we switch 
on a fan , we used it for half an hour then 
we have to convert 30 minutes into hours. 
Everything that we have used in minutes we 
need to convert it into hours.  For converting 
into hours you have to divide by 60. last 
one is total energy consumption it means 
how much energy we used which is basically 
the product of watt , quantity and duration. 
Lets check our meter . Lets suppose we turn 
on our led bulb at 9 am . Its power consumption 
is 14 watt . Quantity is 2 . We are using 
it for whole day i.e. 8 hours. Here we are 
using it for whole day. By the way we don't 
have to use to a whole day. We need to be 
carefull about our electrical consumption 
in order to save electricity . Then after 
we use tubelight . Its power consumption 
is of 22 watts , quantity is 1 and we are 
using it for 4 hours. Here you can obsereve 
that all the calculation automatically taking 
place. All the formula is already applied 
you need not to worry about calculation. 
After that we made our food on induction 
cookware. Here its power consumption is 1200 
watt , quantity 1 and we take 1 hour  for 
preparing our food. Next we washed our clothes 
in washing machine, its watt is 500 , single 
quantity and duration lets suppose half an 
hour i.e. 0.5 . Next we switch on our fan 
it is of 60 watts , 2 numbers of quantity 
and we use it for 4 hours. In parallel, we 
watched TV i.e LED TV of 32 inches and power 
consumption 22 watts , single quantity and 
we watched TV for 4 hours. This is just a 
general calculation here you get total energy 
 consumption in watt hours i.e. 2330. This 
value is in watt hour , we need to convert 
it into kilo watt hour. To convert it we 
need to divide this value by 1000 . Here 
i already used formula and divided it by 
1000. You get 2.33 . This is total energy 
consumption for 8 hours. In starting our 
reading was 12123.4 and after that we utilize 
2.33 unit more. So, our new electrical meter 
reading will be 12125.73 . At this time we 
again go to our meter and check what exact 
reading is coming out at 5 pm. Lets suppose 
our reading is coming 12126.2 .  Then we 
will match actual reading that we got from 
meter and our calculated reading then we 
find the differences. Here its coming 0.47 
. As we already applied the formula in our 
sheet , it showing our meter works properly. 
If our final reading 12126.9 . Then our difference 
will be 1.17 . We conclude it just by saying 
if the differnce between final reading and 
calculated reading is more than 1 unit then 
our meter is not working properly. For making 
accurate calcualtion , we need to be very 
carefull about our appliances wattage consumption 
and its operating duration. If you are not 
aware of any power consumption , i already 
made a power comsumption chart . In this 
there are 36 appliances mention with its 
power capacity. This will help you to get 
an idea about your appliances consumption.
